Everything You Need To Know About Oscars 2016

Snacks, blankets, action! If, like me, you were watching the Oscars 2k16 from outside the US, you can understand the state I’m in right now with only 4 hours of sleep combined with lectures. Yet every year, this event is one of the main things that I look forward to, until one day where I will hopefully witness it firsthand. It was a delightful but sleepless night, full of chocolate and Lotus biscuits but if you ask me if it was worth it to see Leo get his first Oscar after all these years I could only respond with one thing: Hell yeah. The Winners If you haven’t watched it, here are the winners: Best Picture: Spotlight Best Actor in a Leading Role: Leonardo DiCaprio Best Actress in a Leading Role: Brie Larson Best Actor…

What Do You Feel Alive For?

There are some days where you just all of a sudden zone out, staring at the trees longing for the spring that will never come with goosebumps. All your worries, future plans, thoughts and feelings freeze with the inexplicable rush that takes over your body. You look around, take a deep breath and after quite a while finally feel like you were supposed to since the beginning: Alive. Most people have a thought in mind, some feeling or person that they’re alive for. Yet shouldn’t we be alive for ourselves before anyone or anything else? Are we bound to feel alive only with the presence of some other element? Isn’t it a feeling, though for some it’s deep down and forgotten, that we all must feel and share? Berlin Day #4: Auf Wiedersehen

Now I’m sitting in the airport because we’re earlier than the check in time. We finished our little Berlin getaway and took our second Turkish cab back to the airport, waiting for a plane that will take us back to London where essays and responsibilities await. For my last post from Berlin, I will look back at some unpublished memories and pictures, basically the highlights of our trip. Culture As with this demotivational #ihavethisthingwithfloors picture, I find the whole historical background in Berlin very fascinating. Looking back to our visits this week, everything we visited was related to the second world war. It makes me think about how deeply it affected firstly the German culture, then the world. Friends It was really great to get away with fun people who understand you and are almost…

Berlin Day #3: Sehenswürdigkeiten

Here I sit, eating my self-cooked lentils that taste like heaven after dorm food; looking back at our 3rd day in Berlin. We had a cultural tour, visiting all the historically important landmarks; as well as a tour in the woods. The Soviet Memorial. Today was probably an important day in Russian history, there were many people with flowers in their hands in front of the museum. We had a cute little stroll through Tiergarten on the way to the Brandenburg gate. It has rained every single day since we came here, but I don’t mind it. I love the rain, the only issue is that my camera gets wet. I love how mysterious forests are. So similar yet so different. So are we. Memorial rocks in the middle of the woods. Pictures to keep…

Berlin Day #2: Geschichte

Once the fatigue of the first day is over, after a couple efficient naps, you can finally wear your sneakers, get your camera out and start exploring. For our second day in Berlin, we went to the East Side Gallery and the Museum Island. It is very inspiring to see wise words, calling for peace in such a troubled time of the world. Today I saw an entire different face of Berlin. The hipster, underground vibe is too strong, and I think Berlin had me at that. The street art is very inspiring. Some make me go “Oh I could’ve done that!” Yet I respond to myself with the wise words I once saw as a response to a modern art critique: Then why didn’t you? Art is pretty amazing actually. I just can’t wait…
