It’s easy to zone out. Easy to shut your eyes. Easy to drift away. Easy to have peace of mind. The problem is, you wake up. You wake up to see the country you’ve spent most of your life sinking into darkness and ignorance. And you suddenly can’t breathe.
In case you didn’t know, I am from Istanbul. That funky city in between Europe and Asia. Full of warm, welcoming people and a whole lot of cultural heritage and history. I do not want to dig deep into the political side of the recent deplorable events, since, as this blog is my little happy place, I’d like to keep the controversy away.
Whenever something as sad as this happens, I always think of these lyrics by the legend, Queen:
“That time will come, one day you’ll see, when we can all be friends..”
What is the obstacle here? Why can’t we all accept each other and let everyone be?
“The one thing, we’re all waiting for, is peace on earth and an end to war..”
I don’t understand how, in such an interesting planet full of natural beauties and more and more views to see, people can kill each other. How can one being decide it’s the end of another’s time? How can you look someone in the eye and pull the trigger? What do opposing views matter once he takes his last breath?
How can you kill someone because of ideological differences?
How can you kill someone?
How can you kill?
“It’s a Miracle we need, the Miracle..”
